Kicks Info: During the late 80s and early 90s when MJ was the king of the court, king of the shoe industry, and king of the world, Nike was also trying to market another player, Charles Barkley. Michael Jordan was marketed as the high flyer, dunker, winner, the leader of the Flight department. Charles was marketed as the bad boy, the rebounder, the one to make the dirty plays, the non-role model, the leader of the Force department. Charles received the same shower of love from Nike, but it was just too bad that Charles never won a championship. Nike designed all kinds of nice shoes for him. This pair was one of them. There were two versions of the Air Max 180. The high cut was for David Robinson, while the low cut was for Charles. In 1992 Olympic games, Charles wore these 180 in olympic color (blue, red, white and gold). A pair of the brand new olympic version in box would be sold at as high as $300US. It was rumored that these shoes would be retro-ed, but it is highly unlikely because when these came out, Nike had to settle with a lawsuit against them, filed by Avia, who claimed that Nike had stolen their big chunck of air idea. Nike won't go through all the hassel again just to make collectors happy.
